Prof. Yahya invited at Harvard University to deliver lecture

ALIGARH July 5: Prof. H. S. A. Yahya of the Wildlife Centre of the Aligarh Muslim University has been invited at Harvard University to deliver a lecture on ‘Retrospect and Prospect of Indian Ornithology with Special Reference to 'Narcondam Hornbill’. This lecture will cover a resume of history of three hundred years of Indian Ornithology.
The talk will also include the ecology, biology and conservation of critically endangered Narcondam Hornbill which is endemic to Andaman Nicobar island and about 450 birds are found only on this island. Prof. Yahya has conducted this study with the grant of British Ecological Society.
Earlier Prof. Yahya delivered lectures in nine other countries on different topics related to ecology and conservation of Indian birds including seven in US universities, three in Canada, four in Britain, three in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and one each in China, Brazil, Chile, Pakistan and South Africa, etc
July 4: Prof. H. S. A. Yahya, Department of Wildlife Sciences at the Aligarh Muslim University has been nominated as Member of the Working Group of the Planning Commission on Higher Education for the formulation of the XII Five Year Plan (2012-2017).
The Working Group on Higher Education will review the present status of Higher Education in the country and to examine critically the issues of access, equity and quality and relevance of the higher education system in the context of globalization and structural changes in the national economy.
