ALIGARH January 11: While hearing the Writ Petition no. 1679/2011 of Mr. Madihur Rahman Sohaib versus Union of India and others, the Delhi High Court has reiterated that it had not granted any stay on holding the meeting of Executive Council of the Aligarh Muslim University.
AMU Counsel, Anish Dayal said that the petitioner had filed an application seeking rectification of the Order dated 13.12.2011 alleging that the Hon’ble High Court had granted a stay on holding the Executive Council meeting till the next date of hearing and this was not reflected in the order. The Hon’ble High Court after hearing the arguments of Counsels of the Union of India and the CBI dismissed the application of the petitioner clarifying that the order read very clearly. It observed that no stay was ever granted, as was being alleged by the petitioner, said Mr. Dayal.
On the main Writ Petition, the Respondents were granted 4 weeks time to file their replies if they so wished and the matter was listed for April 30, 2012 granting no further orders in this regard.
Mr. Dayal said that University Grants Commission has been dropped from the array of parties as it had no role to play in this matter.
